Qing period Chao Zhou clay pot

Sad sad sad thing that happened to my beloved teapot!  I hardly break a tea pot, but it had to be the best and most significant teapot in my hands.

A chao zhou red clay teapot from the Qing dynasty period, most prized by the CZ tea heads today, made by "E PU" studio/maker.  It's such a little treasure of mine and I broke the lid, even before I made any tea out of it.  AH!!!!!!!!!!!

Aouch, so sad

one solution at once : kintsugi or Gintsugi : gold or silver repair. It's a japanese technique based on a lacquer-repair of natural Urushi mixed with precious metal.

Unfortunately, I know adresses in France, but not in usa, but i guess there is people who can do such a repair in the US !

Yes, I know of a metal (silver or copper) repair technique similar to the pictures in China. I will bring the pot to China on my next trip and have it repaired. It should add a nice touch to the pot as well.

Thanks Nicolas!

Hello.

I had same situation with one of my belowed pots.

I just polished the lid with abrasive brick (for knives).

It's xishi teapot, now it looks bold, round like a ball. But I use it normally.

I thought about jewellry, just attach a stone on a silver tube, but I'm just too lazy to do it at the moment.

Lid of your teapot looks like it can be hold OK, without getting fingers burned.

Damaging teapots is allways a tragedy. But broken lid will not actually affect a tea in result.

Best regards
Dmitriy
